Opening Ceremonies

Our Opening Ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 7 p.m. in Ballroom 1 of the Summit. This is your chance to be part of the beginning of Seattle Worldcon 2025. Our hosts, guests of honor and staff for the convention will be present to open the convention to all of our attendees, both in person and virtual. We hope that everyone enjoys the convention.

Concerts At Worldcon

We have a wonderful group of artists that are looking to perform concerts for you this year, including Alexander James Adams, one of our guests of honor will be performing a concert on Thursday, August 14. Our concert venue is the Signature Room on the 5th floor of the Summit Conference Center. Performance slots for most acts will be 30 minutes, and performances will be grouped into “Star Clusters” of four similar acts in 2.5 hour blocks repeating throughout the day with 30-minute breaks in-between. We want all members to have a fun experience, whether on stage or in the audience!

If you would like to perform, please both fill out a Panelist Application and email Lynn Gold, concerts area head, at concerts@seattlein2025.org to let us know you are interested. Best yet, let us know if there are other artists you would like to be “clustered” with!

Masquerade

The Worldcon Masquerade will take the stage on Friday evening, August 15. This is the opportunity for individuals to show off their efforts in creating costumes/cosplays of all designs. There will be an opportunity to register for this online as well as in person at the convention. Please stay tuned for our rules/guidelines and registration form to be online soon. We are looking for masquerade staff (assistant masquerade director, den moms, stage help, judges, scribe).

Hugo Award Ceremony

The Hugo Award ceremony is a focal point of Worldcon and a seminal event to celebrate the best SFF works and creators of 2024. It will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Ballroom 1 of the convention center. More details forthcoming.

Dances

What would Worldcon be without dances! Our dances will be held later in the evening in our Worldcon After Dark space in the Metropolitan Ballroom at the Sheraton Grand on Wednesday through Saturday evenings. There will also be some dance programming in this space, including a Regency ball hosted on Saturday afternoon, August 16.

Worldcon After Dark

Worldcon After Dark logoWorldcon After Dark is our name for programming which will take place in the evenings at the Sheraton Grand, providing a complement and alternative to room parties. There will be a member lounge, the dances, and some special evening programming in Ravenna rooms A/B/C. There are some things already scheduled, but we are hoping to add some additional later evening non-panel programming to Worldcon. Please stay tuned for updates, and submit your ideas through the contact form.
