We want all of the materials in the Hugo Voter Packet to be as accessible as possible for our members who use assistive technologies. We appreciate your consideration!
If you’re creating a new document for the Packet (such as an overview of your work), please follow the steps in Creating accessible documents.
If you’re submitting a PDF that you already created, and if you have Adobe Acrobat Pro, please check the PDF for accessibility before submitting it.
If you are submitting a video file, please provide captions either in the video as closed (user selectable) or open (burned in) captions, or as a separate (usually .srt) file.
If you can’t send an accessible file, then send us whatever format you have. But please do try to provide accessible documents if possible.
Creating Accessible Documents
If you’re creating new documents for the Packet, please follow the below steps.
- Use standard heading styles for your document titles and headings.
- Add alt text to images.
- Check accessibility in Microsoft Word.
- Save your document as an accessible PDF using Microsoft Word.
- If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro, check the PDF for accessibility (if you don’t have Acrobat Pro, skip this step).
If you don’t use Microsoft Word or Google Docs, your word processor may have similar tools for creating accessible documents; check the documentation.
