Around Seattle: Eastside Trains

Eastside Trains logoEastside Trains is a must-see for model train enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest. Boasting the largest selection of model trains west of the Mississippi, this store carries all major model train brands, as well as scenery, accessories, and power supplies. Eastside Trains is staffed by model train experts who are highly qualified in repairing and servicing model trains.

With its extensive selection, Eastside Trains has something for everyone from seasoned collectors with exacting specifications to newbies just looking to get started with the basics. Eastside Trains has been in business since 1983 and is located in Kirkland, Washington, where it sticks to the theme in a building reminiscent of a train depot.

For railfans interested in riding historic trains, we recommend checking out the Northwest Railway Museum, the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad, the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad and Museum, and our favorite, the Seattle Monorail. There are also numerous spots to watch trains in Seattle and its surrounding areas, thanks to Seattle’s location as a key transportation and shipping hub. At Seattle’s Carkeek Park or Edmonds’ Sunset Avenue, the trainspotting is especially scenic since the tracks run along the coastline.
