First and foremost, as chair of the Seattle Worldcon, I sincerely apologize for the use of ChatGPT in our program vetting process. Additionally, I regret releasing a statement that did not address the concerns of our community.
Hugo Award finalists have been announced, join a group themed costume meetup, dates for business meeting town halls and consultative vote, about our virtual content, looking for performers for concerts, about our safer spaces lounges, announcing our accessibility needs survey, announcing our short story contest finalists, the community fund status, site selection bids, and the virtual business meeting dates and times.
Seattle Worldcon 2025, the 83rd World Science Fiction Convention, is delighted to announce the finalists for the 2025 Hugo Awards, Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book, and Astounding Award for Best New Writer.
I am writing this statement in order to share the status of Seattle Worldcon’s current journey through living up to our theme of Building Yesterday’s Future—For Everyone. We have received a number of concerns asking how the convention will respond to orders and actions of the U.S. government, which we condemn, that create hostile conditions and travel barriers for LGBTQ+ members and international members.
Hugo nominations close tomorrow, suite requests and party notifications are open, our hotel room blocks are sold out, announcing our first Fringe events, and peeking at what we have planned for our younger members!
We’re starting to plan our fringe events, attending membership rates will increase on March 1, announcing our virtual business meeting platform and times, our health policy was recently updated, community fund grants are being awarded and we’re accepting donations, and Hugo nominations are open through March 14.
Seattle Worldcon 2025 is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Hugo Awards, Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book, and Astounding Award for Best New Writer.
The Freebies Lounge is looking for book donations, party suites may be requested, hotel room availability updates, announcing the Con-Verse blog column with Brandon O’Brien, membership rate increases, how to unsubscribe from the newsletter, writing contest submissions close soon, and Hugo, Lodestar, and Astounding award nominations open soon!
Applications are open for fan tables, dealers’ room, and art show; site selection bids are being accepted; make sure your registration is current; community fund applications and donations are open; the single pattern contest is announced; fun crafty projects for you; our group costume theme; and the business meeting moves online.
Have you ever wondered about or wanted to participate in how the rules that govern the Worldcon, the Hugo Awards, and other aspects of WSFS get made? We are excited to announce that this year we have developed a new process for the business meeting: a series of pre-convention, virtual meetings!
